Why this matters

Being struck by moving vehicles, swinging loads, and falling objects is among the most common ways people are seriously hurt in construction.

What to cover

  1. Know where equipment is moving and keep out of its path. If the operator can't see you, don't walk there.
  2. Never stand under a suspended load or in a swing radius.
  3. Wear high-visibility clothing and make eye contact with operators before crossing.
  4. Barricade areas below overhead work.
  5. Keep spoil, materials, and tools away from edges.
  6. Use a spotter when backing up or working close to traffic.

Ask the crew

  • Where is the line of fire on this site today?
  • Who needs to be told before the crane starts lifting?
  • What do you do when you can't see the operator?

One thing to do today

Mark and barricade one exclusion zone that isn't yet marked.
