The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots, Respirator or mask, Hearing protection

  1. 1. Survey first

    What could go wrong

    Hazardous materials and live services

    How we control it

Review the survey for asbestos and lead before work. Isolate and mark services. Stop if you find anything unexpected.

  2. 2. Plan the sequence

    What could go wrong

    Collapse of structure or loads

    How we control it

Confirm which walls and floors carry load. Support as the engineer advises.

  3. 3. Strip out

    What could go wrong

    Dust, noise, and sharp debris

    How we control it

Wet down dust or use extraction. Wear a respirator, hearing, and eye protection.

  4. 4. Remove debris

    What could go wrong

    Strains; falling debris; blocked exits

    How we control it

Use chutes and carts. Keep exits clear.

  • If you find a suspect material, stop work and report it. Don't disturb it.

When to use it

Use it before strip-out work, and review it when you find materials you didn't expect.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
