Why this matters

Fumes from paints, glues, and cleaners can harm lungs, nerves, and the brain, and some can catch fire.

What to cover

  1. Read the label for ventilation and respirator advice.
  2. Ventilate the space or use extraction.
  3. Wear the right respirator and make sure it fits.
  4. Keep ignition sources away.
  5. Close containers when you aren't using them.
  6. Take a break in fresh air if you feel dizzy or have a headache.

Ask the crew

  • What products are you using today?
  • Where does the air go?
  • When was your respirator fit-tested?

One thing to do today

Check ventilation in every area where solvents are used.
