Why this matters

A person hanging in a harness can lose consciousness. They need to be brought down fast and safely.

What to cover

  1. Plan the rescue before the work starts.
  2. Know who is trained and what equipment is on site.
  3. Don't count on the emergency services to arrive in time.
  4. Check that anchors and equipment will work for a rescue, too.
  5. Practice the plan so people know their roles.
  6. Call for help right away, even if you start a rescue.

Ask the crew

  • Who is the rescue lead today?
  • Where is the rescue kit?
  • How long would it take to reach someone here?

One thing to do today

Name the rescue lead and check the equipment for today's work.

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
