Why this matters

Falling onto exposed rebar can cause fatal injuries. The fix costs a few cents per cap.

What to cover

  1. Fit caps or guards to every exposed vertical end.
  2. Use caps rated to take a fall.
  3. Replace damaged caps right away.
  4. Walk on walkways laid across mats, not on the bars.
  5. Wear gloves and handle bundles with care.
  6. Report exposed ends you find.

Ask the crew

  • How many exposed ends are on this site?
  • Who supplies caps?
  • What happens when a cap is knocked off?

One thing to do today

Count and cap every exposed bar in the work area.
