The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots

  1. 1. Unload and carry

    What could go wrong

    Strains; sharp ends; swinging bundles

    How we control it

Use equipment for bundles. Wear gloves. Keep clear of the load.

  2. 2. Place the bars

    What could go wrong

Trips over bars; falls from heights

    How we control it

Keep walkways clear. Use walkways over mats instead of walking on bars.

  3. 3. Cap exposed ends

    What could go wrong

    Impalement from vertical bars

    How we control it

Fit rebar caps or similar protection on every exposed vertical end.

  4. 4. Tie

    What could go wrong

Repetitive strain; falls while bending over

    How we control it

Rotate tasks and use tying tools to reduce strain. Stay tied off at heights.

  • Falling onto uncovered vertical rebar can cause fatal injuries. Cap or guard every exposed end.

When to use it

Use it for rebar tasks, especially vertical bars and work at height.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.
