Why this matters

Fresh masonry walls can fall in wind, and cutting block makes silica dust.

What to cover

  1. Brace walls as the engineer or standard says.
  2. Keep people and equipment out of the fall zone.
  3. Cut with water or extraction, and wear a respirator.
  4. Keep the scaffold load within its rating.
  5. Wear gloves and eye protection.
  6. Keep stacks of block stable and back from the edge.

Ask the crew

  • How tall can a wall go before it needs bracing?
  • Where's the fall zone?
  • Who checks the scaffold?

One thing to do today

Check the bracing on every new wall before the shift starts.
