Why this matters

Formwork failures are sudden and severe. They usually come from missing ties, wrong bracing, or early stripping.

What to cover

  1. Build to the drawings and don't change the bracing without approval.
  2. Have a competent person inspect the formwork before the pour.
  3. Fit edge protection as you build.
  4. Keep people out from under forms being lifted.
  5. Strip only when you've been told it's safe.
  6. Report loose pins, gaps, or damaged parts.

Ask the crew

  • Who signs off the formwork?
  • What's the strip time on this pour?
  • Where's the drawing?

One thing to do today

Check the formwork against the drawing before the next pour.
