Why this matters

Forklifts tip, hit people, and drop loads. Pedestrians and operators both have a role.

What to cover

  1. Only trained operators drive forklifts.
  2. Check the truck at the start of each shift.
  3. Keep loads low and tilted back when you travel.
  4. Slow down at corners and sound the horn.
  5. Pedestrians stay out of forklift routes, and make eye contact before crossing.
  6. Never lift people on forks.

Ask the crew

  • Where do forklifts and people cross on this site?
  • What do you check first?
  • Who's trained to drive?

One thing to do today

Mark pedestrian routes away from forklift paths.
