Why this matters

A dropped or swinging load can kill. Most injuries happen to people on the ground.

What to cover

  1. Never stand or walk under a suspended load.
  2. Stay outside the swing radius of the crane.
  3. Use only qualified riggers and signalers.
  4. Check slings and hooks before every lift.
  5. Use tag lines to control loads.
  6. Know the stop signal and obey it from anyone.

Ask the crew

  • Who gives signals today?
  • Where's the exclusion zone?
  • What do you do if a load starts to swing?

One thing to do today

Mark and barricade the lift zone before the first lift.
