The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots

  1. 1. Sort the waste

    What could go wrong

Sharp offcuts, nails, and glass; mixed hazardous waste

    How we control it

Separate sharp, hazardous, and general waste. Keep hazardous waste in labelled containers.

  2. 2. Carry it out

    What could go wrong

Strains; tripping on loose debris; dropped loads

    How we control it

Use carts or wheelbarrows. Don't overfill bags. Keep the route clear.

  3. 3. Use chutes or hoists

    What could go wrong

    Falling debris; people below

    How we control it

Enclose the chute and barricade the area below. Don't throw waste from height.

  4. 4. Fill the skip or bin

    What could go wrong

Falls from the skip edge; overloaded containers

    How we control it

Use a ramp or door, and don't climb in. Don't fill past the rim.

  • Sweep up nails and screws as you go, and use a magnetic sweeper where you can.

When to use it

Use it for daily cleanup and for larger clear-outs, such as after a demolition or a big delivery.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
