The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots

  1. 1. Plan the supply

    What could go wrong

    Overloaded boards; unsuitable equipment

    How we control it

Work from a plan. Use equipment rated for site conditions, and GFCI protection on outlets.

  2. 2. Install boards and cable

    What could go wrong

Shock; cables in walkways; damaged insulation

    How we control it

Only a qualified person should connect to the supply. Run cables overhead or protect them where they cross a route. Don't tape or kink cords.

  3. 3. Connect tools and lights

    What could go wrong

    Wet plugs; overloaded outlets

    How we control it

Keep connections off the ground and dry. Don't daisy-chain extension cords or power strips.

  4. 4. Test and tag

    What could go wrong

    Faults that go unnoticed

    How we control it

Test every GFCI before use. Tag inspected cords and boards, and remove damaged ones.

  • Treat every cord and board as damaged until you've looked at it.

When to use it

Use it when you set up or extend temporary power, and review it as the site changes.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
