The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots, High-visibility vest

  1. 1. Check the machine

    What could go wrong

    Defects; wrong attachment

    How we control it

Complete the pre-start check. Confirm the attachment and the load chart match.

  2. 2. Check the load chart

    What could go wrong

    Tipping when the boom extends

    How we control it

Read the chart for your attachment. Stay inside the rated radius and height.

  3. 3. Travel with the load

    What could go wrong

    Tipping on slopes; blind spots

    How we control it

Keep the boom low and retracted. Use a spotter. Don't cross slopes with a raised load.

  4. 4. Place the load

    What could go wrong

Falling loads; people in the landing zone

    How we control it

Stop the machine and level it. Keep people clear of the landing zone and the boom.

  • Don't lift people in the forks. Use a platform designed for the purpose and follow the maker's rules.

When to use it

Use it for operators and ground crew, and review it when the attachment, load, or ground changes.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
