Read the SDS. Ventilate the work area. Plan breaks in hot spaces.
2. Handle and cut
What could go wrong
Skin and eye irritation; dust
How we control it
Wear long sleeves, gloves, glasses, and a mask or respirator. Cut with a sharp knife.
3. Install in tight spaces
What could go wrong
Falls through ceilings; overheating
How we control it
Use walkboards across joists. Don't step between them. Carry water and work in pairs.
4. Clean up
What could go wrong
Loose fibers
How we control it
Vacuum with a suitable filter and bag waste. Shower and wash clothes after work.
- For spray foam, follow the maker's rules on PPE, ventilation, and re-entry times.
When to use it
Use it for insulation work, and review it when the product or the location changes.
Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.
