Why this matters

Skin takes in chemicals and gets cuts, burns, and dermatitis. The wrong glove can make things worse.

What to cover

  1. Choose gloves for the hazard: cut, chemical, heat, or grip.
  2. Check them for holes before you use them.
  3. Remove them without touching the outside.
  4. Wash your hands before eating or smoking.
  5. Use barrier cream where the label advises it.
  6. Change gloves when they're torn or soaked through.

Ask the crew

  • Which gloves do you use for chemicals?
  • How do you check them?
  • What do you do with used ones?

One thing to do today

Make sure the right gloves are stocked for each task.
