The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots

  1. 1. Isolate the supply

    What could go wrong

    Live conductors

    How we control it

Follow your lockout and tagging procedure. Verify zero energy with a tested meter.

  2. 2. Mount the panel

    What could go wrong

    Strains; dropped panel; sharp edges

    How we control it

Use two people or a lift. Wear gloves.

  3. 3. Terminate conductors

    What could go wrong

Shock from adjacent live parts; poor connections

    How we control it

Work only on de-energized conductors. Torque to the maker's values. Label every circuit.

  4. 4. Test and energize

    What could go wrong

    Faults on energizing; people nearby

    How we control it

Check insulation and continuity. Clear the area, announce, and energize with the cover on.

  • Only a qualified electrician should do this work.

When to use it

Use it before panel work, and attach it to your electrical work permit if you use one.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
