The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots, Respirator or mask

  1. 1. Move boards

    What could go wrong

    Strains; crushed fingers; tripping

    How we control it

Use carts and two-person lifts. Clear the route.

  2. 2. Hang boards and ceilings

    What could go wrong

    Falls from platforms; overhead strain

    How we control it

Use a stable platform or scaffold instead of makeshift supports. Use a lift for ceiling boards.

  3. 3. Cut and sand

    What could go wrong

    Dust and cuts

    How we control it

Wear a respirator and eye protection. Use dust extraction. Use a sharp knife and cut away from yourself.

  4. 4. Clean up

    What could go wrong

    Dust and scraps

    How we control it

Wet-sweep or vacuum rather than dry-sweep. Remove offcuts from walkways.

  • Don't use stilts unless the crew is trained and the site rules allow it.

When to use it

Use it for drywall crews, and review it when you start ceiling work or use stilts.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
