The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Safety glasses, Gloves, Safety boots, Hearing protection

  1. 1. Prepare the area

    What could go wrong

    Slips; trip hazards; poor lighting

    How we control it

Clear the slab edge and tools. Light the area for a late finish.

  2. 2. Screed and float

    What could go wrong

    Strains; contact with wet concrete

    How we control it

Share the load and take breaks. Wear waterproof boots and gloves. Rinse skin right away.

  3. 3. Trowel with a power trowel

    What could go wrong

Noise, fumes, and hands near the blades

    How we control it

Wear hearing protection. Keep ventilation in enclosed areas. Never reach under the machine while it's running.

  4. 4. Clean up

    What could go wrong

    Residue and wash-out

    How we control it

Wash tools in the right area. Dispose of slurry as your site rules say.

  • Kneeling on wet concrete for a long time can burn skin. Use kneeboards and waterproof pads.

When to use it

Use it for slab and floor finishing, and review it when you use power trowels.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
