  1. 1. Read the label and the safety data sheet

    What could go wrong

Using the wrong product or the wrong PPE

    How we control it

Read the label and SDS. Use only the PPE and controls they list.

  2. 2. Move and decant

    What could go wrong

    Spills and splashes; leaks

    How we control it

Use sealed, labelled containers. Carry with both hands or a cart. Never use unmarked containers.

  3. 3. Use

    What could go wrong

    Fumes, skin contact, and fire

    How we control it

Use ventilation. Keep chemicals away from ignition sources. Wash hands before eating.

  4. 4. Store

    What could go wrong

    Incompatible products stored together; spills

    How we control it

Store as the SDS says, in the right cabinet, with a spill tray. Keep incompatible products apart.

  • If the label or SDS is missing, don't use the product. Ask your supervisor.

When to use it

Use it for any chemical on site, and review it when you bring in a new product.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
