Why this matters

Spills can cause slips, fires, and harm to the environment, and they can get worse if handled wrongly.

What to cover

  1. Stop the source if you can do it safely.
  2. Keep people away and remove ignition sources.
  3. Use the spill kit to contain and absorb it.
  4. Block drains.
  5. Bag used absorbent in a labelled container.
  6. Report every spill, even a small one.

Ask the crew

  • Where's the spill kit?
  • What's in it?
  • Who do you call?

One thing to do today

Check the spill kit is stocked and everyone knows where it is.
