Why this matters
Fatigue slows reactions and judgment, and it affects the drive home as well as the work.
What to cover
- Get enough sleep before long shifts.
- Take your breaks, and drink water.
- Watch for signs: yawning, drifting focus, mistakes.
- Tell your supervisor if you're too tired for a task.
- Don't do high-risk tasks when you're exhausted.
- Think about how you'll get home safely.
Ask the crew
- When did tiredness catch you out?
- What helps you stay alert?
- How do we plan long shifts?
One thing to do today
Review the shift plan and add breaks or rotation for the longest shifts.
