Why this matters

Eye injuries are common, and most are preventable with the right protection worn every time.

What to cover

  1. Wear safety glasses with side protection for everyday site work.
  2. Use goggles for dust and splashes, and face shields for grinding and chipping.
  3. Replace scratched or cracked lenses.
  4. Keep an eyewash station where chemicals are used.
  5. Know how to use the eyewash.
  6. If something gets in your eye, don't rub it. Rinse and get help.

Ask the crew

  • Where's the nearest eyewash?
  • What task needs more than glasses?
  • Who's had an eye injury?

One thing to do today

Test the eyewash and check that eye protection is stocked.
