Why this matters

A site left unsafe can hurt the night security guard, a neighbor's child, or the first crew back in the morning.

What to cover

  1. Switch off or isolate equipment that doesn't need to run.
  2. Cover or guard openings and edges.
  3. Store flammables and fuel in the right place.
  4. Lock gates, doors, and tool stores.
  5. Remove ladders from scaffolds and from reach of the public.
  6. Tell the next shift about hazards you couldn't fix.

Ask the crew

  • What do you leave out most days?
  • Which opening is hardest to cover?
  • Who locks up on this site?

One thing to do today

Do an end-of-shift walk together and fix anything you find.

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
