Why this matters

Compressed air can force dirt into eyes and air into the skin, and loose hoses whip.

What to cover

  1. Never point an air hose at anyone.
  2. Never use compressed air to clean your clothes or skin.
  3. Use whip checks on couplings if your rules require them.
  4. Wear eye protection.
  5. Switch off and release the pressure before you disconnect.
  6. Don't exceed the pressure rating of the tool or hose.

Ask the crew

  • Who's seen someone clean off with an air hose?
  • What's the rating of our hoses?
  • How do you drain the tank?

One thing to do today

Check all hoses and couplings in use and remove any worn items.
