The job hazard analysis

PPE required: Hard hat, Safety boots, High-visibility vest

  1. 1. Plan routes and the meeting point

    What could go wrong

Blocked exits; no clear meeting point

    How we control it

Mark exits and routes on the site plan. Choose a meeting point away from the building and the road.

  2. 2. Raise the alarm

    What could go wrong

    People not hearing it

    How we control it

Use an alarm everyone can hear or see. Test it. Name who raises it.

  3. 3. Evacuate

    What could go wrong

    Panic; people left behind

    How we control it

Stop work and leave by the nearest safe route. Help others. Don't stop for belongings.

  4. 4. Account for everyone

    What could go wrong

    Missing people

    How we control it

Use the sign-in record to check names at the meeting point. Report missing people to the emergency services.

  • Practice the plan with everyone, including subcontractors and visitors.

When to use it

Use it to plan and practice evacuation, and review it when the layout or the number of people changes.

Review it with the crew before the work starts, change anything that doesn't match how you'll do the job, and update it when the method, the equipment, or the site changes.

Use this JHA in Reldro

  • It arrives ready to edit, and your crew uses it on their phone, even without signal.
  • Failed items become corrective actions with an owner and a due date.
  • Every completed one is kept with the site, the date and who did it.
